For years I rode my bike past an abandoned Baptist church on Camp Street. It was the type of construction we will never see again, done when people’s love of God was reflected in the homes they built him: stained glass masterpieces housed in arched windows, heavy, hand carved granite walls, castle door front entrance- and it was being overtaken by time. I painted this and one day rode by and the building was gone.
