From several years back, this is an initial sketch for a gallery exhibit themed “Murmurations”.
Watching flocks of blackbirds as they swoop and dive is magical. Once, as a child, I was standing in the outskirts of the Margaret Keating Elementary playground, in Klamath, California, watching a massive flock as they swooped into a compact flock and seemingly exploded out into a starburst of birds,s winging back and forth in the sky over cattle and the field surrounding the school. They unexpectedly dropped onto the cows, and my friend and I in the process- magical and Hitchcockian all at the same time.
